Seven Deadly Sins

Pride- "It is identified as believing that one is essentially better than others, failing to acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and excessive admiration of the personal self" Pride can be seen through the words of this advertisement. By talking about how jealous everyone will be of your car implies that you will be showing it off. Also saying that the view from the back is the only view most people will  get gives the add a snotty and better than you tone, which goes along with pride.

This add gives the idea that if you drive an Audi that you are automatically better than everyone else. Using the word admire gives the feeling that driving this car makes you superior and will make others look up to you. Having the background in black and white, and the car standing out in blue gives the effect that nothing around it is important except the car.

The target audience of this advertisement is young to middle age adults who are in the middle to upper class. It seems mainly to be targeted to those who already own an Audi. It seems to be talking to someone who is already apart of this elite class of Audi owners and is trying to persuade them to get the next new one.

Jane Eyre

Response to question 2

"From this deficiency of nourishment resulted an abuse, which pressed hardly on the younger pupils," this quote from chapter 7 of Jane Eyre helps to summarize the chapter the best. Throughout the chapter the words have a somber and worried tone. Creating the feeling that they don't know how much longer they will survive. I think the main point of the chapter is talk about dealing with struggles, and showing what you have to do to survive. By talking about lack of nourishment and how it effects the youngest shows the reader the extremes. The speaker is explaining how tough it was to function without the necessity and how not being able to function effected them in even more negative ways, referring to the types of punishments they would  receive from falling asleep in class.
