Life is but a Netflix queue created by an idiot...

Macbeth is such a well known play, but today all we seem to care about is Netflix. Some might ask how we could bring these two topics together, well I have the perfect way. Ever wonder what shows Macbeth would watch? I have the answers for you right now.

Macbeth's Favorite Shows

  1. How to Get Away with Murder- Obviously Macbeth loves to watch this TV series because that is one of his goals, he strives to successfully get away with the murders so that he can still gain the power. He recommends this show to anyone seeking revenge or trying to gain power.
  2. Ghost Hunters- Ever since the appearance of Banquo's ghost at the banquet he's always wanted to have someone help him figure it out. Once he found ghost hunters he was immediately hooked and wanted to keep watching to figure out how to catch the ghost of Banquo.
  3. Harry Potter- Another series that Macbeth would recommend is Harry Potter. He is completely influenced by the super natural but doesn't notice it, therefore, leading him into enjoying films with witchcraft in them.
  4. Lion King- In the lion king Mufasa's brother betrays him and kills him. Macbeth loves this movie because he can really relate to the character Scar, because he knows the struggle to do whatever you have to gain power.

Macbeth's Fall from grace

Question 3 Do you believe events in your life have been guided by fate or chance? Why or why not? Based on the text, what do you think Shakespeare's attitude was towards fate? Does Macbeth have any choice in his actions or was everything predetermined? Use examples from the text as your support.

Fate:Regarded as determined by a supernatural power

Chance: accidental

I like to think that everything happens for a reason and these things are determined by a higher power. I like to think this way because it gives reasoning and hope when something bad happens.I'm a pretty religious person so I tend to believe that God is the one determining our fate, but that's just what I believe.

Based off of the text Macbeth, I think Shakespeare did not believe in fate. I think Macbeth was a way of mocking fate and saying that Macbeth could have determined his own life and not be so over powered by the witches. I think that Macbeth did have choice in  his actions. His reasoning behind the murders was that it was destined to happen, so why fight it? But the only way that he would have truly known is if he hadn't killed those people. Therefore, I don't think it was really fate or chance, but his own free will and choice.

#ibmakingart

Artist : José Dávila
Title : Topologies of Belief
Date: 2011
Medium:  Pictures
Size:
Location: Mexico
3. Subject/ Inconography
This piece of art work takes picture of different landscapes and places with pieces cut out.  The concept of this piece is whether or not we can fill in the blanks. The subject is different places and what they lack when parts are cut out.
4. Style/Technique
I really like how the artist chose to put the pictures into black and white. I think this shows that even with the absence of color we can still make sense of the art. The cut outs give a sense of texture that make it seem to me like the cut outs were further in the distance than the rest of the picture, giving the feeling that they are less important, therefore they can be taking out and the pictures still have meaning.
5. Significance/ Function/ Purpose

I think the purpose of this piece is to show that even without knowing everything we make assumptions. We see this a lot in our culture, when we don’t know the whole story we begin to infer, not always is what we infer correct though. I think this piece is trying to say that while sometimes we can figure out what is missing, other times we can be completely wrong. This is shown through how some of the pictures it is totally obvious what has been cut out and in others it is more difficult. – p.s. sorry ms. Genesky, interpreting art is not my thing.

Seven Deadly Sins

Pride- "It is identified as believing that one is essentially better than others, failing to acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and excessive admiration of the personal self" Pride can be seen through the words of this advertisement. By talking about how jealous everyone will be of your car implies that you will be showing it off. Also saying that the view from the back is the only view most people will  get gives the add a snotty and better than you tone, which goes along with pride.

This add gives the idea that if you drive an Audi that you are automatically better than everyone else. Using the word admire gives the feeling that driving this car makes you superior and will make others look up to you. Having the background in black and white, and the car standing out in blue gives the effect that nothing around it is important except the car.

The target audience of this advertisement is young to middle age adults who are in the middle to upper class. It seems mainly to be targeted to those who already own an Audi. It seems to be talking to someone who is already apart of this elite class of Audi owners and is trying to persuade them to get the next new one.

Jane Eyre

Response to question 2

"From this deficiency of nourishment resulted an abuse, which pressed hardly on the younger pupils," this quote from chapter 7 of Jane Eyre helps to summarize the chapter the best. Throughout the chapter the words have a somber and worried tone. Creating the feeling that they don't know how much longer they will survive. I think the main point of the chapter is talk about dealing with struggles, and showing what you have to do to survive. By talking about lack of nourishment and how it effects the youngest shows the reader the extremes. The speaker is explaining how tough it was to function without the necessity and how not being able to function effected them in even more negative ways, referring to the types of punishments they would  receive from falling asleep in class.

Names

Names are a crazy thing to think about, where they came from, what they mean, why they're important? Some people tend to think names can make or break you, but I think the opposite, you make your name unique to you. Many times there will be a celebrity or something famous with your name that people will associate you with. This is very true for my name, Carrie. Usually when people hear my name they think straight to the movie Carrie. For those who don't know the movie Carrie is about a troubled teenager, with telekinesis, who gets pushed past her limit and ends up killing multiple people at her prom. So, as you can tell not the best thing to have people associate you with, but as people get to know me they realize (hopefully) that I'm a sweet girl who isn't going to kill people.  Luckily, that has nothing to do with what my name means to me. To me, it's a family name passed down from my moms great grandmother, which means a lot to me because she was someone my mother admired a lot, and I aspire to have someone look up to me like that someday.

Throughout my last name, my family name, has been extremely unique, there's only 7 of us in Raleigh. Up until this point I have never really thought about how it makes me an individual or a part of a whole. Individually I don't think it really changes who I am, at least not for me. Although it has affected me a few times relating to school. All through elementary and middle school I followed in my sister's footsteps. Considering how uncommon my last name is if I ever had a teacher who had taught one of my sister's I was always compared to them. I hated it because I knew I was nothing like either of them, but because this was their first impression of me I had to try that much harder to prove that I was different.
